How many days until Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday falls on .

Counted in your own time zone, .

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving — four days after the fourth Thursday in November — so it moves every year.

A date invented for a reason that no longer exists

Cyber Monday was named in 2005, when the observation was that people went back to work on the Monday and used a fast office connection to shop online. Nearly everyone now has a better connection in their pocket, so the reason has gone while the date has stayed — which is why it survives as a marketing deadline rather than a behaviour.

What it is still good for

The prices are genuinely different from Black Friday's. Electronics and physical goods tend to bottom out on the Friday; software, subscriptions and digital services more often on the Monday. If you are waiting on something specific, which of the two dates you count to changes what you pay.

Counting to a purchase you have already decided on

Waiting deliberately is the only sensible use of a shopping countdown. The failure mode is not missing the date — it is forgetting you were waiting at all, and buying at full price in October. That is exactly the sort of thing a date on your Lock Screen fixes.
