No date is looked up more often than this one, and it is the only countdown on this site that resets every week. It is also the only one where everybody already knows the answer and asks anyway — which is a fair description of what counting down is actually for.
Saturday, not Friday evening
Where the weekend begins is a matter of opinion — five o'clock on Friday has a strong claim — but the only definition that works for everyone is the calendar one, so this counts to the start of Saturday. If your week ends earlier, subtract accordingly and enjoy the head start.
A countdown that is never far away
Everything else on this site is months out. This one is never more than six days, which makes it the clearest demonstration of why the last stretch of any countdown feels different: the same number of hours reads as forever in January and as nearly-there on a Thursday afternoon.
